Our Own Democratic Process

This site has been created for the express purpose of openly mocking the citizen's initiated referendum aimed at The Crimes (Substituted Section 59) Amendment Act 2007, popularly known as the 'Anti-smacking Amendment'. Groups opposed to the law change collected signatures to petition for a referendum on the issue and were sucessful.

The referendum in itself is fine, it is part of the democratic process in New Zealand. However the wording they chose makes a mockery of the process. New Zealanders are asked to vote on the question:
Should a smack as part of good parental correction be a criminal offence in New Zealand?
